It's simple. Use a hot glue gun to write whatever words you want: love, 'wedding date', 'initials', forever, I do, etc. Then spray paint!!

Edible Centerpieces

My sister sent me this email and I thought it was so creative! Research edible flowers and freeze them in an ice cube tray! It makes such a cute addition to the table. Additionally, try putting herbs in the ice cubes and place them in glass containers that holds water or lemonade (pieces of lemon in ice). It adds a bit of flavor to the drink and adds some class to ice! For best results, fill the ice cube trays half way then place the flower/fruit/herb and fill the rest of the tray.

Wacky Wednesday: Airliner

This seems like a fitting wedding location for me as my dad was an airline pilot for TWA for 34 years and I have been surrounded by airplanes my entire life. According to an internet article by Ryan Kett, "Virgin Airways gained some invaluable publicity in 2007 when Virgin America marketing director Dimitious Papagonas and his partner Coco Jones were wed on the airlines first ever flight to famous wedding city Las Vegas. Not one to shirk an unusual photo opportunity, the wedding was officiated by Billionaire virgin tycoon Sir Richard Branson!Guests sat at either side of the 'aisle' and watched as bride Coco walked down it to the song 'Love Is In The Air'. The lucky couple are not the only couple of have been married on a plane, with a number of American couples hiring planes for their weddings since! Perhaps the major benefit of this wedding was the fact that the couple and their guests landing in Las Vegas, saving time before the honeymoon!"

Time Capsule

This is another FABULOUS idea I got from Pinterest. If you all aren't on that website, you need to be! Just comment on this post with your email address and I will send you an invite to the website. Anyways, here is the idea. Find a box - preferably wood - write love letters to each other and add a bottle of wine - or something that won't spoil - and nail it shut during the wedding ceremony. Keep that box safe and don't open it until your 25th anniversary. Consider having your parents or grandparents write you a letter. Also, if you as a couple are having a really big rough patch, you could open this early and remember how head over heels in love you were and try to rekindle. Overall, I think this is a unique and fun tradition to have at a wedding.

New Jobs!

Hello Blog Readers -

I just wanted to bring you a quick update in my professional life. In the beginning of this month, I finished up my seasonal position with the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. It was really fast pace. I'd say the biggest thing I learned is how to deal with a lot of different types of people. If you ever get to Orlando, I highly suggest stopping in at the Gaylord to visit their beautiful resort. The atriums are so beautiful - I'd say an attraction in themselves. Also, when you go, eat at Sunset Sams. They have some of the best seafood I have ever had!

Right after that position ended, I volunteered for a bridal crawl in downtown Orlando. Basically, prospective brides went around to different venues around downtown and inside the venues were different vendors. I worked at the Citrus Club, which is on the top floor (18th story) of the BB&T building downtown. The venue was amazing! Windows everywhere, such a beautiful view of the city (and Harry Potter World) lol!  I highly recommend going to Bridal crawls, etc. You get to see a lot of vendor work and each venue has different food and free drinks! You get an afternoon's entertainment and food for around $10.

Now I am back in South Florida where I just interviewed with two wedding vendors today - MB Floral and Alfred Angelo. I got both jobs. So you all should be prepared for a plethora of new information and tips.

Please keep reading!

Love,

Lizzie

Newly Wed's To Do List

The Knot.com came out with a great article on things you have to take care of after the wedding. Most engaged couples are so consumed with wedding planning and bounding off on their honeymoons that they forget legal matters and basic etiquette.

Frozen Yogurt Bar!

I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest! As I am sure you all have seen, there is a huge trend in frozen yogurt shops where you can put on your own topping. Why not include that in your wedding?!? It's interactive and fun for guests.

Wacky Wednesday: Aircraft Carrier

I was watching Top Gun the other night and thought how cool it would be to get married on the deck of an aircraft carrier with the fighter planes around (which would be awesome if I didn't get really sea sick). One place that you can do that is in California aboard the USS Hornet.

Take a look:

Convertible Bridesmaid Dresses

My co-worker and I were talking about what kind of bridesmaid's dresses we wanted for our weddings. I already have mine picked out, but he showed me what he had picked out for his wedding and I thought they were so cool that I just had to share with you.

Your bridesmaids are probably going to be all different sizes and have different tastes. This dress allows them to change the style to whatever looks best on them, while still looking uniform in the bridal party. There are over 15 different styles to wear this dress!

Unique Wedding Favors

I was thinking about what to have as a guest favor for my wedding. As I was doing research, I ran across these cute ideas that were too wonderful not to share:

Lottery Tickets or Scratch Offs
They are only a dollar. The couple had a note in the program stating the tickets were chosen because we are so lucky to have our family and friends with us on our wedding day. Another line was added that all winnings will need to be split with the bride and groom!

Resolution #5

The final resolution I have for you this week is to really consider your budget. I just went wedding dress shopping today and my eyes were blown wide open at the prices. Consider where you can cut costs at your weddings. Shop around for deals. Negotiate with vendors. All the money that you can save can go towards your new life with your husband! Car payments, house payments, electricity. My advice is to pick three things that you will not compromise cost on and the other stuff consider going with a different vendor or choosing something less expensive. The three that I chose are: 1. Dress  2. Photography  3. Flowers.    Take a close look at what is truly important to you for your wedding whether it be food, venue, favors, etc.

Although this is the most important day of your life, remember that it's not important because of the wedding. It's important because of the marriage. Don't start your married life in debt. Be smart. There are deals to be found to still have a high class wedding!

Resolution #4

Today, I am asking you to resolve your attitude. In the beginning stages of planning my wedding, I tended to be super overwhelmed and get a tad irritated when someone gave a strong suggestion on how I should run my wedding. I don't know whether I'm alone in this, but I don't think I am since the term Bridezilla is well-known. Please know that most of the people who are trying to help you are actually genuinely looking out for your best interest. Be patient with them and remind them that it is your wedding and you will take their thoughts into consideration.

When they keep persisting, come up with something nice but forceful to say to them. Or maybe hand off a specific task to them so they feel a part of your wedding! Remember to take a deep breath! Things will get done and they will get done the way you want.

Wacky Wednesday Resolution

This Wacky Wednesday, the resolution i'm giving you is to find a venue that suits you! A lot of couples end up picking a venue based on availability etc. I urge you to start looking early and find a venue that you feel fits the personality of you guys as a couple. Things you want to look for in a venue: acoustics, occupancy, layout, location, decorations, etc.

Here are some interesting architecture photos of venues:

Resolution #2

This particular resolution is for the bride!

FIND A DRESS!

If your wedding is within the next year, the first thing you need to do is find a dress. Within 9 Months of the wedding, you should have selected your dress and have the fittings begin. The minimum amount of time is 6 months. If you wait longer than that, it will be more expensive for alterations. Plus one of the best experiences of planning a wedding is trying on all those dresses. So grab your girls (and guys if you have ones willing to go) and hit up a bridal salon!

Resolutions

This week I am going to post about Wedding Resolutions. If you have a wedding coming up this year in 2012, I am going to give you some resolutions you should have. According to Wikipedia's definition, a New Years Resolution is a commitment that a person makes to one or more lasting personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a habit.

My first resolution for you and your fiance is to be a team! Quoting Frank Ra (author of the new year's resolution book "A course in happiness"): "Resolutions are more sustainable when shared, both in terms of with whom you share the benefits of your resolution, and with whom you share the path of maintaining your resolution. Peer-support makes a difference in success rate with new year's resolutions". Not only is that statement true for New Year's Resolutions, but also, in every thing you will do in your marriage. If you both act as team, supporting each other through anything, then the most likely outcome will be a success. Remember that advice when you are planning your wedding. It will be so much easier relying on each other rather than one person doing all the work.

So work on that. Be a T-E-A-M!

To wear a ring or to not, That is the question

My fiance and I had a chat about wedding rings the other day and it came down to the point where he does not want to wear one. I have been trying to think about my feelings on the matter and was looking from some input from you all! I think this is a great topic to consider. This is one of the things that the groom does get a say in, about what his ring looks like and if he even wears one. My thoughts are as follows: My dad and my fiances, Brian's dad, have never worn a wedding band. Both of them work with their hands and a ring would get caught on things. Brian is hoping to be a firefighter/EMT and that point works in the same way for him. So I am more inclined to give into his request to not wear a ring, which ultimately I'm sure will happen. I mean, Prince William decided not wear a wedding ring! You think Kate was about to break that engagement off over a silly ring?!?  Another option that alot of celebs are doing is getting a ring tattoed on the ring finger. That way it solves the working issue.

On the other side of the argument, shouldn't the guy want to wear a ring to show that he made a commitment to you. That is the one thing that says "I'm married and I chose to be with one person forever" without actually saying anything. Toya Sharee says it perfectly, "The marriage is meant to be respected by you and him, and while the world would be perfect if everyone showed that same respect, remember: Your MAN is obligated to you, not his admirers. Your marriage is only as monogamous as you and your man want it to be, and it shouldn’t matter if Halle Berry herself decides to give him the business, ring or not, your man should be committed. There are those men who simply don’t want to wear a ring because they aren’t yet willing to give up the attention they’re receiving as a single man, or even worse, some men don’t want the world to know they’re married. If you find yourself making a fuss over a ring because you’re obsessed with what may happen in its absence, you may actually be more worried about what happens in YOUR absence."

If you are having a discussion about him not wearing a ring, make sure you know what the feeling is behind your uneasiness. If you are feeling uneasy that he doesn't want to wear a ring, so he can attract other women, you might want to consider if he is acutally the one!

Wacky Wednesday: ICE BAR!

I recently visited the Ice Bar in Orlando. I was freezing in my cocktail dress and heels. Luckily, they did give each one of us parkas/fur coats and my fiance loves me enough that he gave me his to keep my legs warm! It was approximately 25 degrees in the bar. The glasses that they gave us were made out of ice! Anyways, this week's wacky Wednesday's wedding takes place in London's ICE BAR.
